Festivals of Praise

Please come and join us every month for our Festival of Praise! The night includes adoration, lively praise and worship music, a talk and allowing the Holy Spirit to work in and among us. Prayer team ministry follows every Festival of Praise in Finnegan Fieldhouse on campus; this allows God to continue to bless and work in His children. The Festivals of Praise are on one Saturday a month at 7:00 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel. These are coordinated by the Steubenville Conference Office and Office of Evangelization. All are welcome – especially youth and young adult groups!

Please check the Chapel Ministries schedule for updated dates and times.

Weekly Praise and Worship
PraiseAndWorshipLogo

Every Tuesday night from 9 – 10 pm you’ll find up to 250 students gathered in Finnegan Fieldhouse for a time of communal praise and worship. Student teams lead the worship and music, as well as teams of intercession, discernment, and prayer ministry. We strive as a community to be open to the gifts of the Holy Spirit throughout the night – including prophecy, tongues, and the sharing of words, images and Scriptures. Prayer team ministry may follow the time of weekly praise in Finnegan Fieldhouse. Please come and join us!

Born of the Spirit Retreat

“He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire,” Matthew 3:11. This student retreat provides an opportunity for an encounter with the Holy Spirit as well as learning about the charisms of the Spirit and how to live a life of joy-filled discipleship. In encountering Jesus in a personal way, in opening ourselves the Father’s healing, we become receptive to the Love of God that is the Holy Spirit and to His gifts that He offers us. The history of the Charismatic Renewal and Baptism in the Spirit is taught in the context of Catholic tradition and the sacramental life of the Church. During the weekend, we will have talks, testimonies, fellowship, and food, and lots of opportunities for prayer including Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, praise & worship, and prayer ministry! This retreat is for FUS students and other university students who would like to attend.

FUS Men's Ministry

Heeding the Second Vatican Council’s declaration that “whoever follows Christ the perfect man becomes himself more a man” FUS Men’s Ministry strives to foster Christian discipleship among the men of Franciscan University of Steubenville by pursuing the following goals:

  • Empower men to live an adult Christian life through instruction in the Catholic faith and practical life skills
  • Encourage men in their commitment to Jesus Christ and his Church through group fellowship and prayer
  • Exhort men to live a life of ongoing conversion, growth in Christian virtue, and missionary zeal

Looking to the example of the great male Saints of our Catholic tradition and recognizing the signs of the times, FUS Men’s Ministry earnestly endeavors to deepen in men the awareness of their true masculine identity in Jesus Christ. Thus by “speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ” (Eph. 4:15).

CS Lewis quote
FUS Women's Ministry

Believing that the feminine genius is inherent in the soul of every woman, FUS Women’s Ministry seeks to awaken and encourage women’s gifts of receptivity, sensitivity, generosity and call to motherhood as taught by Pope John Paul II in Mulieris Dignitatem. To that end, Women’s Ministry seeks to accompany women on the journey toward holiness and help them to fully embrace their feminine genius by fostering personal growth in a variety of areas.

  • an appreciation of the feminine intellect
  • harmonization of reason and emotion
  • equipping women to experience healthy relationships with God, self and others
  • an understanding of the prophetic role of woman
  • upholding women saints as models of femininity transformed by grace
  • cultivation of the Marian virtues

The soul of woman must be expansive and open to all human beings, it must be quiet so that no small weak flame will be extinguished by stormy winds; warm so as not to benumb fragile buds… empty of itself, in order that extraneous life may have room in it; finally, mistress of itself and also of its body, so that the entire person is readily at the disposal of every call.

~ Edith Stein: St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross

Our hope is that through our ministry the women of Franciscan University of Steubenville will truly become “a shelter in which other souls may unfold” as they bear the light of Christ to the world.

BeLoved

The BeLoved Event is a once-a-year event for women. Its goal is to provide the women at Franciscan University an opportunity to experience God’s love by revealing a deeper understanding of true Christian femininity. BeLoved accomplishes this vision by hosting an evening that responds to the specific needs of Christian women through a series of dynamic presentations, powerful worship, and participation in the sacraments.

Capture My Heart Retreat

Capture My Heart is a once-a-semester, off-campus, student-led retreat designed to help women embrace the invitation to fall more in love with Jesus Christ. Throughout the course of the weekend women have the opportunity to learn more about the feminine genius, pray together, and receive the love of Christ through times of prayer, praise, and especially the sacraments.
